Moisture can influence sensitive battery materials and components

Battery development and manufacturing involve materials and components with different moisture sensitivities. Depending on the chemistry, packaging and process, uncontrolled humidity can affect material handling, surface condition and downstream process consistency. McDry provides an enclosed low-humidity environment for suitable materials during intermediate storage, research, quality control and selected production activities.

WHY MCDRY

Controlled low-humidity storage without continuous nitrogen consumption

McDry uses a zeolite-based drying unit to maintain a controlled dry environment. Depending on the selected model and operating conditions, storage down to 1% RH is available. Standard operation does not require a continuous nitrogen supply.

MATERIAL AND SAFETY REVIEW

McDry is not a fire-rated or explosion-proof battery storage cabinet

A standard McDry cabinet must not automatically be used for charged, damaged, swollen, leaking, thermally unstable or recalled cells and batteries. Electrolytes, solvent-wet electrodes, volatile liquids, flammable materials and other hazardous substances must not be stored without prior technical and safety review. Please provide the relevant Safety Data Sheet, battery chemistry, state of charge, condition, quantity and packaging information.

Dry storage for battery components and materials

Can lithium-ion batteries be stored in a McDry cabinet?Not automatically. McDry may be suitable for selected battery components and approved samples, but it is not a fire-rated or explosion-proof battery safety cabinet.
Can McDry replace a battery dry room or glovebox?No. Some battery processes require an extremely low dew point, controlled atmosphere or glovebox.
Can electrolyte or solvent-wet materials be stored in McDry?Electrolytes, solvent-wet electrodes and volatile or flammable materials must not be stored without prior technical and safety review.
Does McDry require continuous nitrogen?Standard McDry operation does not require a continuous nitrogen supply.
Which McDry series is suitable for battery R&D?MCU may suit smaller laboratory quantities. MC and DXU may be more appropriate for larger storage volumes or frequent access.
What information is required for application review?Please provide the battery chemistry, material name, SDS, state of charge, condition, packaging, quantity, target humidity and access frequency.
