CHINO IRMA Infrared Moisture and Thickness Analyzer FAQ

The CHINO IRMA is an infrared moisture and thickness analyzer for real-time, non-contact measurement in industrial production processes. By selecting suitable infrared wavelengths and calibration curves, IRMA can be configured for a wide range of measurement targets, including moisture, film thickness, coating thickness, organic components, concentration and color-related evaluation. With proven applications across many industries such as food, chemicals, films, coatings, powders, pellets, liquids and process materials, CHINO IRMA is a flexible solution for customers who need to measure difficult or application-specific materials. If you have a material or process that you would like to measure, please feel free to contact us for consultation.

1. What is the CHINO IRMA used for?

CHINO IRMA is used for real-time, non-contact measurement of moisture, film thickness, coating thickness, organic components and other material properties in production processes. It is suitable for inline quality control where continuous monitoring is required.

2. How does the IRMA analyzer measure materials?

IRMA uses the infrared absorption method. Different materials absorb infrared light at different wavelengths, so the analyzer can measure target components by selecting suitable wavelengths and applying calibration curves for each application.

3. Can IRMA measure more than moisture?

Yes. Although it is often used as an infrared moisture analyzer, IRMA can also be configured for film thickness, coating thickness, organic matter, concentration and other component measurements depending on the material, wavelength selection and calibration method.

4. Can IRMA be used for film thickness and coating thickness measurement?

Yes. IRMA can be used for non-contact measurement of film thickness and coating thickness when the target material has suitable infrared absorption characteristics. This makes it useful for film production, coating lines, web processes and continuous quality control.

5. Can IRMA also support color-related evaluation?

Depending on the application and wavelength configuration, IRMA can also support color-related or tone-related evaluation. Since the system can use multiple infrared wavelengths and calibration curves, it can be adapted to various measurement targets beyond standard moisture measurement.

6. Can multiple components be measured?

Yes. Depending on the application and calibration setup, IRMA can analyze multiple constituents such as moisture, thickness, coating amount, concentration and organic components. This flexibility makes it suitable for many different process measurement applications.

7. What industries can use CHINO IRMA?

CHINO IRMA can be used in many industries, including food, chemicals, films, coatings, powders, pellets, liquids, process materials and industrial production lines. It is suitable for customers who need stable inline measurement and quality control.

8. Is IRMA suitable for inline process measurement?

Yes. IRMA is designed for real-time process measurement and can be installed for inline monitoring in production lines. Non-contact measurement helps reduce manual sampling and supports stable quality control during continuous production.

9. What kind of materials can be measured?

IRMA can be applied to many types of materials, including powders, pellets, films, coatings, liquids, pastes, food products, chemical materials and process materials. The suitability depends on the material characteristics, target component and infrared absorption behavior.

10. Can Seika Sangyo help check whether my material can be measured?

Yes. Because IRMA can be adapted to many different materials and measurement targets, we recommend discussing the application first. If you have a material, component, film, coating, powder, liquid or production process that you would like to measure, please feel free to contact Seika Sangyo GmbH. We can review the measurement target and discuss whether CHINO IRMA may be suitable.
