HIOKI

Powder Impedance Measurement System

Integrated Evaluation of Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Battery Powder Materials

The HIOKI Powder Impedance Measurement System simultaneously measures impedance, thickness, and pressure while compressing battery powder materials, enabling rapid evaluation of electrical and mechanical properties under controlled pressure conditions.

Quantitative Powder Material Evaluation

The system combines a compact press mechanism, thickness measurement, pressure monitoring, and high-accuracy electrical measurement to evaluate powder materials used in solid-state batteries and dry-process electrode development.

By measuring multiple parameters on the same sample while pressure is continuously varied, users can quickly compare mechanical and electrical characteristics without repeatedly removing or preparing the sample.

Key Features

Simultaneous Measurement

Simultaneously acquire impedance, thickness, and pressure data while compressing powder materials.

High-pressure Evaluation

Evaluate powder materials under loads up to 60 kN, corresponding to a pressure of up to 764 MPa with the SA9004-01 Test Fixture.

Glove Box Operation

The compact press unit can be installed inside a glove box, allowing material loading, pressing, and measurement to be completed without exposing the sample to the atmosphere.

Efficient Multi-condition Testing

Measure multiple pressure conditions continuously using a single powder sample to streamline comparative evaluation.

Electrical and Mechanical Evaluation Parameters

The system combines measured impedance, thickness, and pressure data with calculated parameters to provide a comprehensive view of powder material behavior.

Conductivity

Evaluate electrical conduction characteristics of powder materials based on measured resistance and sample geometry.

Ionic Conductivity

Quantitatively evaluate ionic conduction characteristics of solid electrolyte materials using AC impedance measurement.

Bulk Density

Calculate bulk density from sample thickness and geometry to evaluate changes in powder compaction under applied pressure.

Measurement and Analysis Process

Powder materials are compressed while impedance, thickness, and pressure are measured and analyzed to calculate key electrical and mechanical parameters.
