WHY CONTROLLED DRY STORAGE MATTERS

Aerospace electronics may remain in storage long before installation or service

Avionics systems and defense electronics can contain moisture-sensitive semiconductor packages, printed circuit boards, sensors, connectors and electronic assemblies.

During production, maintenance, repair and long-term spare-parts storage, uncontrolled ambient humidity can expose these materials to moisture and contribute to deterioration of storage condition over time.

MOISTURE-RELATED CONCERNS

What uncontrolled humidity can influence

Actual effects depend on component construction, packaging, storage duration, handling conditions and the manufacturer’s storage requirements.

01

Moisture absorption

Moisture-sensitive packages and electronic materials can absorb moisture while exposed to ambient air.

02

Long-term storage exposure

Spare parts and replacement electronics may remain unused for extended periods before installation.

03

Corrosion risk

Controlled humidity can help reduce environmental conditions that may contribute to corrosion of suitable metallic and electronic parts.

04

Variable storage conditions

Different ambient conditions between warehouses, laboratories and service areas may create inconsistent storage environments.

WHY MCDRY

Controlled low-humidity storage without continuous nitrogen consumption

McDry uses a zeolite-based drying system to provide a controlled low-humidity storage environment.

Depending on the selected model, storage conditions down to approximately 1% RH are available without requiring a continuous nitrogen supply for standard operation.

Ultra-low-humidity storage

Selected models provide controlled storage down to approximately 1% RH.

No continuous nitrogen supply

Standard McDry operation uses an electric zeolite-based drying unit.

Suitable for electronics storage

Designed for moisture-sensitive components, including IC packages, PCBs and electronic components.

European technical support

SSG provides product selection, quotations, spare parts and after-sales support.

Two-year SSG warranty

Cabinets supplied by SSG are generally covered for two years from the SSG shipment date.

CABINET SELECTION

Select the McDry series according to capacity and access frequency

MCU

Compact storage

Suitable for laboratories, engineering areas and smaller quantities of electronic components.

  • Compact cabinet dimensions
  • Engineering and laboratory storage
  • Small-volume electronic inventory
DXU

Frequent-access storage

Suitable for high-volume production or maintenance environments where cabinet doors are opened more frequently.

  • High drying performance
  • Large-volume storage
  • Production and MRO environments

Final model selection depends on target humidity, stored quantity, component dimensions, access frequency and available installation space.

APPLICATION AND SAFETY REVIEW

McDry is an electronic dry storage cabinet

Suitability must be evaluated according to the component, packaging, required humidity, storage duration and operating environment.

McDry is not designed for the storage of ammunition, explosives, energetic materials, flammable materials, fuels or other hazardous substances.

Aerospace or defense-related applications may also be subject to customer-specific quality, documentation, export-control or regulatory requirements. These requirements should be reviewed separately for each project.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dry storage for aerospace and defense electronics

Can McDry be used for avionics electronic components?

McDry is designed for controlled low-humidity storage of moisture-sensitive electronic components, including IC packages and PCBs. Suitability for a specific avionics component should be confirmed against the component manufacturer’s storage requirements.

What humidity level can McDry provide?

Depending on the selected McDry model and operating conditions, storage environments down to approximately 1% RH are available.

Does McDry require nitrogen?

No continuous nitrogen supply is required for standard operation. McDry uses an electric zeolite-based drying unit.
