WHY CONTROLLED DRY STORAGE MATTERS

Moisture can influence sensitive optoelectronic materials and components

OLED materials, organic electronic materials, perovskite materials and selected semiconductor or thin-film components can be sensitive to uncontrolled humidity during storage and handling.

McDry provides an enclosed low-humidity environment for suitable components and materials between receiving, assembly, bonding, coating, sealing, inspection and testing.

MOISTURE-RELATED EFFECTS

What uncontrolled humidity may influence

The effect depends on the material, construction, packaging, exposure time and manufacturing process.

01

Material degradation

Moisture may influence selected organic, semiconductor and thin-film materials.

02

Oxidation and corrosion

Selected electrodes, terminals and metallic components may be affected by uncontrolled humidity.

03

Surface and bonding issues

Moisture or contamination may influence coating, bonding, encapsulation and assembly processes.

04

Storage variability

Different storage conditions may introduce variation between production batches and evaluation samples.

SELECTED OPTOELECTRONICS APPLICATIONS

Components and materials that may benefit from dry storage

Suitability and required humidity must be reviewed for the specific component, material and process.

LEDs and lighting components

LED packages, lighting devices and related moisture-sensitive electronic parts.

OLED and organic EL materials

Display modules, flexible OLED materials, organic materials and related assemblies.

Optical sensors and lasers

Photodiodes, image sensors, laser diodes, optical modules and precision assemblies.

Solar cell materials

Perovskite materials, sensitive films, substrates, electrodes and encapsulation parts.

Capacitors and electronics

Selected capacitors, IC packages, mounted PCB assemblies and sensitive parts.

R&D and QA samples

Prototype devices, reference samples, failure-analysis items and reliability-test samples.

APPLICATION FOCUS

Dry storage for OLED and perovskite materials

These materials can require careful environmental control, but their exact storage requirements are application-specific.

OLED DRY CABINET APPLICATIONS

OLED and organic EL materials

A controlled low-humidity environment may help reduce moisture exposure for suitable OLED materials, display-related components and flexible organic electronic materials during intermediate storage.

McDry may support storage before assembly, bonding, coating, sealing or inspection, subject to the component manufacturer’s instructions and the required process environment.

Review required: Confirm humidity, temperature, packaging, ESD requirements, storage duration and whether oxygen or light control is also required.
SOLAR CELL MATERIAL STORAGE

Perovskite and solar cell materials

Selected perovskite materials, thin films, substrates, electrodes, encapsulation parts and research samples may benefit from controlled low-humidity storage between preparation and use.

Some materials or processes may also require inert-gas, oxygen-free, dark or otherwise controlled conditions. A dry cabinet must not automatically be assumed to replace a glovebox or dedicated process environment.

Review required: Provide the material name, packaging, target humidity or dew point, storage period and Safety Data Sheet where applicable.

WHY MCDRY

Controlled ultra-low-humidity storage without continuous nitrogen consumption

McDry uses a zeolite-based drying unit to maintain a controlled dry environment. Depending on the selected model and operating conditions, storage down to 1% RH is available.

✓
Ultra-low humidity

Selected models provide controlled storage down to 1% RH.

✓
ESD-safe configurations

Suitable options support electrostatic-sensitive devices and components.

✓
No continuous nitrogen supply

Standard operation uses an automatically regenerating zeolite drying unit.

✓
European support

Application review, model selection and technical support from Seika Sangyo GmbH.

MATERIAL AND PROCESS REVIEW

Confirm the complete storage environment before use

McDry is not automatically a replacement for a cleanroom, glovebox, inert-gas system, vacuum packaging or a temperature-, oxygen-, particle- or light-controlled process.

Wet, volatile, flammable, explosive, reactive or otherwise hazardous substances must not be stored without prior technical and safety review. Provide an SDS where applicable.
